To Our Residents and Family Members:
I wanted to take this opportunity to write everyone and let them know where we are currently in dealing with the Covid-19 virus as well as our plans moving forward. Please keep in mind that things can change quickly with guidance from the CDC and DHHS. Our facility is in close contact with the local and state health department, and we will continue to follow their guidance. With that being said, this will be the most up to date information available to us at the time of this letter.
I also wanted to share my thoughts on our Staff. As I'm sure everyone is aware, this has been an unusually stressful time for everyone. Our Team has met the challenge head on. I look forward to the day when we can all celebrate their hard work and dedication in caring for our Residents together!
Lastly, I wanted to thank each of our Residents and Family Members. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. I want to assure you that we are doing all that we can to keep everyone safe. That is our #1 commitment to you!
Testing: On July 14th , 2020, we partnered with CVS to conduct a facility wide testing of all Residents and Staff. Since that time, we have begun testing all Residents and Staff on a weekly basis. We are working on the process to make this as transparent and efficient as possible. As always, if a positive result is received, an immediate contact will be made to the Resident and their Responsible Person. As long as tests are available, we will continue this process indefinitely. We feel as though this will provide us the best chance to limit an outbreak.
Safety Measures: We are continually educating our Staff on proper techniques to ensure infection control on a weekly basis. Everyone who enters the facility is screened as per CDC guidelines (temperature checks, etc.) We are limiting access to the building to necessary personnel only- Our Management Team has worked very hard to prepare a separate unit (Upper North) within our facility in the event that we do have positive Residents who do not require hospitalization. We meet often to discuss our processes and are constantly trying to improve upon them-
Visitation: At this time, nothing has changed other than the fact that we fell into the "outbreak" category. An outbreak is defined as 2 or more cases (Resident, Staff, or combination of both) within a 28 day period. Due to this status, we are not currently allowing our scheduled window visits activity. Once we are removed from this category, we will return to providing the scheduled window visits with our Activity Team. This does not affect the unplanned window visits at each Resident's room. If you need assistance or more information regarding this, don't hesitate to ask. There has been some discussion at the State level regarding outdoor visitation. When we receive information on this, we will share it with you at that time. The visitation requirements will be very strict (distanced visits, mask, etc.) and will have to be approved from the State level down to our Local government officials.
Receivinq Packaqes: We would like to remind everyone that we are still not accepting drop-offs. We are receiving packages from mail carriers. These packages are then processed using to our infection control protocols. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but we feel as though this is the best approach to prevent a possible spread of infection within the facility. If you need assistance getting a Resident any item, let us know, and we will do our best to work something out. There are many stores that provide free delivery and we have found this to be a great option. As we move forward, we will be making efforts for other options to serve you better with safety remaining our top priority.
Notifications: We will notify all Residents and Responsible Persons if any Residents or staff test positive for COVID-19. Please check our website (www.sminursingandrehab.com) for weekly updates of our COVID-19 status. This will be our main means of communication during this time.
